This week, Princess Mary left the comfort of her Amalienborg residence in Copenhagen to visit the country of Burkina Faso in West Africa.
The mother-of-four set out on a mission to visit local members of the community in a bid to educate the women and men on the importance of gender equality and women’s rights – paying special importance to women’s health and early pregnancies.
The Australian-born royal was particularly touched meeting Mouniratou, a 15-year-old teenager who wasn’t aware of her pregnancy until visiting a hospital.
Mary met with the young mother, who leaves school at 10.00am every day to nurse her sweet daughter.
After holding the baby girl in her arms, the 44-year-old shared her inspired thoughts on meeting the brave mother.
“I was delighted to be able to meet her and her beautiful baby girl,” said the mum of Christian, 10, Isabella, nine, Josephine, five and Vincent, five.
The mother was inspired by the teen’s commitment to education.
“She’s a very confident mother and a very strong mother.”
“I’m very impressed by the fact that she continued her education throughout her pregnancy and was back at school a week after giving birth,” she went on.
“She has big dreams for herself, and for her child, but still we need to work on preventing early pregnancies.”

Although the pretty royal was without her husband Frederik on this important mission, she was accompanied by Danish Minister for Foreign Affairs, Kristian Jensen.
The pair’s trip was being documented for Why Women of The Why Foundation.
The not-for-profit organisation aims to raise awareness about girls’ and women’s health, rights and well-being all over the world.
It’s a cause that is clearly very near and dear to the loving mother.
The mother is a Patron of the United Nations Population Fund, which aims “to promote maternal health and safer motherhood in more than 150 developing nations.”
Speaking of their important new venture, Kristian Jensen said, “Denmark supports Burkina Faso because it is one of the world’s poorest nations in which thousands of women die in connection with pregnancy and birth every year.”
“It’s completely unacceptable that women are dying in 2016 while giving new life.”
