Crown Princess Mary has treated fans to a rare and unprecedented glimpse into royal life by sharing a brand new portrait of her and Crown Prince Frederik’s eldest daughter, Princess Isabella.
In honour of the young royal’s 13th birthday, the Danish Palace revealed the photo snapped by Mary herself as well as four private photos from the family archives.
In the first photo, the 13-year-old Danish princess, dressed in a blue puffer jacket, smiles coyly at the camera, and it’s safe to say that Isabella has inherited her father’s looks.
In a photo of Crown Prince Frederik when he was a child back in 1976, it’s clear that those genes have been passed down to his own daughter who is third in line to the throne behind Frederik and her elder brother, Prince Christian.
However, Crown Princess Mary’s portrait wasn’t the only photo shared by the Danish royal household as the post also featured four photos of the young princess at different stages of her life.
In the second photo shared, a younger Princess Isabella smiles at the camera dressed in a similar dark puffer jacket whilst the third depicts her with her beloved grandmother, Queen Margrethe who recently celebrated her milestone 80th birthday that was presumably taken at the royal residence in Copenhagen.

But perhaps the sweetest photos posted to the royal family’s official page were two from Isabella’s earliest years.
The fourth photo depicts Princess Isabella as a toddler dressed in a pink princess costume gazing angelically at the camera with her bright blue eyes whilst the last shows an infant Isabella wrapped up from the cold in a white coat and pink hat.
Naturally, the post was quickly flooded with birthday messages in both Danish and English – and some even came all the way from Crown Princess Mary’s home country of Australia.
“Happy birthday beautiful Princess Isabella. I hope you have a wonderful day. Love sent from Sydney, Australia,” one royal fan from Down Under penned.
This is of course not the first time we’ve seen Crown Princess Mary’s impressive photography skills.
The mother-of-four often shares photos she’s taken of her brood for their birthdays. Back in January, Mary shared two photos of her youngest children Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine in honour of their ninth birthday.
Princess Isabella and her siblings were studying in Switzerland but are back in Denmark due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“In light of the worsening situation in Denmark in connection with the handling of the spread of COVID-19, the Crown Prince couple has decided that the family will leave home from Switzerland,” a statement confirmed.
“The Crown Prince couple find it most natural to return home and stand with the Danes in a time that requires a lot of everyone and where there is a shared responsibility for looking after each other”.
