Princess Charlene of Monaco has finally reunited with her husband and children after weeks apart, due to a concerning illness.

The royal has been stranded in her home nation of South Africa since May, after falling ill with a severe ear, nose and throat infection which required multiple surgeries.

During her long recovery, Charlene has been unable to fly home to Monaco to see her husband, Prince Albert II, and their twins, Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella.

Now the family have been reunited in South Africa, Albert and the children arriving this week to support Charlene through her recovery from another surgery.

The princess was thrilled to see her family again, taking to Instagram to share adorable reunion.

“I am so thrilled to have my family back with me❤️,” she captioned a series of photos of her cuddled up to her children.

Prince Albert could be seen smiling in the background, but it was little Princess Gabriella’s hair that caught everyone’s attention.

Her fringe appears to have been cut into a harsh triangle shape, Charlene explaining that her daughter “decided to give herself a haircut!!!”

“Sorry my Bella I tried my best to fix it 🙈,” the 43-year-old wrote.

Charlene’s illness forced her to spend her and Albert’s 10-year wedding anniversary apart, but the royals made up for it in a second series of snaps.

Hours after posting the family shots, Charlene shared two loved-up photos with her husband.

The Monegasque princess originally travelled to South Africa to support rhino conservation efforts there, before she fell ill and was unable to return home.

Charlene told South Africa Radio 702 of her ordeal a few weeks back: “Initially I was supposed to be here for 10 to 12 days.

“I found out through the doctors that I had a sinus infection and quite a serious one… I cannot force healing, so I will be grounded in South Africa until the end of October.”

It’s unclear if the royal family plan to remain in South Africa with Charlene until late October, when she will hopefully be cleared to fly home to Monaco.

The palace has said that Prince Albert and the royal children will be joining Charlene for “her recovery period”.

Charlene has been open about how difficult it has been to be separated from her family throughout her health battle.

“It’s been a trying time for me. I miss my husband and children dearly,” she told South African News Channel24 last month.

“Albert is my rock and strength and without his love and support I would not have been able to get through this painful time.”
