Yep, in a reputable report that’s sent Aussie royal watchers into a frenzy, it has been revealed that Prince William and Duchess Catherine are set to visit Australia for a whirlwind royal tour in support of those who have been affected by the bushfire crisis.
The news, reported by the Sydney Morning Herald on Tuesday morning, will be welcomed by many, especially given the global influence the pair hold.
They’ll no doubt help to spur on relief and fundraising efforts for the towns that have experienced tragedy in the wake of the bushfires.
According to the SMH, the tour is currently in “preliminary negotiations” between Kensington Palace and the Australian government.
It is understood the plans have been underway for several weeks, and we can expect a formal invitation extending the arrangement to the Duke and Duchess this week.
The report also explains that Kate and William had been “distressed” by the harrowing effects of the bushfires, particularly by the loss of life, and the destruction of homes and wildlife.
The couple reportedly quickly expressed interest in visiting Australia – so it certainly seems very likely that a tour in some capacity will get the go-ahead from the Palace.
A royal tour would undoubtedly bring some much-needed attention to some of Australia’s most affected areas in the wake of the crisis.
Just by looking at their previous royal tours will tell you as much – global media cover every detail humanely possible whenever members of the royal family visit various locations – both within Britain and around the world.
Given Kate and William are well-loved by many, their presence in Australia will undoubtedly bring to light the crisis at a time when it is very much needed.
