Chatting to renowned BBC sports commentator Gary Lineker, the 32-year-old spoke fondly about his love of football.
The future King of Great Britain was asked about when he’ll take Prince George to his first football match – a rite of passage for every father and son – to which he responded: “I don’t know, I’ll have to pass that by the missus, see how I can get away with it.”
The Duke of Cambridge almost always refers to his wife as Catherine, so needless to say royal fans got a huge kick out of this sweet little quip.
Second-time-around fatherhood looks good on the Prince, who seemed much more relaxed and open during the candid chat.
The second-in-line to the throne added about his son attending a football match: “At the moment, being only 22 months, it’s a little bit early. I’d love to go to the odd match with him in the future. ”
This interview marks the first for the Prince since the birth of his daughter Princess Charlotte and is set to be aired on Saturday ahead of the final between his beloved team Aston Villa and current champs Arsenal.
The father-of-two also gushed over his children: “It’ll probably end up being that Charlotte is the Villa fan, and George will go and support someone else! But if he supports Villa, it’d be fantastic.”
William is President of the Football Association and he spoke about changes he’d like to make in the sport: “There’s a number of things that could do with being changed. I’d like to see racism stamped out for starters – in all competitions.”
