It was obvious that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were touched by the heartfelt tributes to victims during their visit to the 9/11 memorial in New York.
Prince William and Kate travelled to the site where the former World Trade Center towers once stood on the last day of their visit.
The royal couple were given a tour of the memorial by Joe Daniels, the President and CEO of the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, observing the bended steel that remained when the buildings collapsed on September 11, 2001.
Almost 3,000 people, including 67 people from Britian died in the terrorist attack.
Dressed in a pink Mulberry coat, Kate, walked around the memorial with William, looking at the victims wall and the remains of a New York Fire truck.
Outside, the royals braved the wet conditions to view the magnificent Memorial Reflection Pools – a footprint of the towers which features all the names of the victims.
The couple left a bouquet of white roses – the state flower of New York – to remember those who died with a letter which read: “In sorrowful memory of those who died on 11th September, and in admiration of the courage shown to rebuild.”
