The very adorable six-year-old is the son of Prince Joachim, the younger brother to Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark, and his wife Princess Marie of Denmark.

Henrik and three-year-old Anthea also have two older half brother’s, Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix, from Joachim’s first marriage to Alexandra Christina, Countess of Frederiksborg.

Dressed in a royal red long-sleeved polo, navy jeans and cute Chucks, Henrik was ready for his first day at big school.

The new student chatted to his family and posed for photographs with his loved ones outside their Copenhagen home.

His little sister, Princess Athena, joined the group for their photo op, although the three-year-old still has a few years to go before she has a first-day-of-school shoot of her own.

The milestone moment was gate-crashed by the resident royal cutie, the family dog, Apple, a Bichon Frise. The cheeky pup poked his head into the shots wanting in on the family’s festivities.

The six-year-old will be attending the private Catholic school, Sisters of St. Joseph, which is close to his home.

Apparently the little prince already has a favourite subject! Henrik told Danish newspaper BT that he was a huge fan of mathematics.

Young Prince Henrik of Denmark set off for his very first day at school on Friday.

The incredibly adorable six-year-old Prince is the son of of Prince Joachim and Princess Marie. He happily smiled for photos as he embarked on the big milestone.

Taking a leaf out of Prince George’s book Henrik and his sister, Anthea, smiled from the window of their family home in Copenhagen.

Mum Marie couldn’t have been more excited for her first-born’s big day.

Henrik and Anthea are Marie and Joachim’s two kids, while the sixth-in-line to the throne is also father to Prince Nikolai and Prince Felix, from his first marriage to Alexandra Christina, Countess of Frederiksborg.

Frederik’s younger brother watched his youngest son with absolute pride as he got ready for his first day at the local private Catholic school, Sisters of St Joseph.

Little Princess Anthea was also very excited for her big brother.

Even the family dog, Apple, joined in on the fun, taking centre stage on the family steps.

Prince Henrik was ecstatic to begin his first day at school. Armed with a large red backpack, he told reporters: “I have a pencil case and a lunch bag in my schoolbag. I like arithmetic the best.

The budding mathematician seemed a little anxious for the day ahead. Luckily his first day was only two hours long and he was accompanied by mum, dad and his sweet sister.

The charming little academic had his royal wave down pat. No doubt it will be perfect for hand-raising in the classroom!
