Opening up on their relationship to Sunday Times Style magazine, the 30-year-old says they will “always be good friends.”
They split six years ago but Chelsy was still invited to (and attended) Prince William and Duchess Kate’s wedding in 2011.
Chelsy and the Prince, 30, have friends in the same circle, including other royals, celebrities and Harry’s cousin, Princess Eugenie.
She also went to his 30th birthday in 2014, along with Harry’s other ex-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.
Last year, rumours were swirling that Harry and Chelsy may get back together after The Sun reported that the pair secretly met up over summer.
A friend of the ex-couple said: “Harry still holds a candle for her. They saw each other recently. There’s still very much something between them. He has never fallen out of love with Chelsy.”
“There’s still very much something between them, but Chelsy won’t commit yet because she doesn’t want to lead a life in the spotlight,” the insider said.
The source continued: “Harry’s very sensitive to that. She’s not like other girls; she’s strong, independent and a rule-breaker. She does everything on her own terms.”
Chelsy worked as a trainee solicitor until 2014, and now is the founder of an African-based jewellery company called Aya. She divides her time between her home in Chelsea, England, and Zimbabwe, where her parents live and own a farm.
The two met in 2004 in Cape Town, South Africa, while the Royal was on a gap year, and Chelsy met the Queen four years later at the wedding of Harry’s cousin Peter Phillips to Autumn Kelly.
Following Prince William and Kate’s wedding, Chelsy reportedly said that a life of Princess was “not one” for her.
