The ring isn’t the only tradition Harry broke at his wedding, funnily enough his choice of cake was also in their “something new” category!
Prince William “isn’t one for jewellery,” while Prince Charles keeps his bling limited to a single signet ring, that proudly sits on his pinkie.
English etiquette guides, including Debrett’s New Guide to Etiquette and Modern Manners, believe wedding bands are not essential for grooms.
“It is customary for the bride alone to sport a wedding ring, and although some brides have adopted the Continental habit of presenting the groom with his own band during the vows, this remains not quite “comme il faut^” .”

The 33-year-old bucked tradition once again when he decided to break the rules by picking a platinum band over a gold one.
The royals have had their rings created from a single nugget of Welsh gold since 1923, starting with the Queen Mother.
Every single royal bride, including Meghan , have stuck with this, but Captain Wales mixed it up.

Royal commentator Penny Junor observed, “I think it shows, as if proof were needed, that Harry is the least conventional member of the Royal Family.”

We quite like their modern approach too, but at the end of the day the Duke and Duchess of Sussex still need to abide by most royal traditions.
Just this week, Meghan was reportedly told she’s not to wear pants during her tour of Sydney and when she falls pregnant, she’ll have to miss out on the beloved tradition of a baby shower.
Despite the rules, we expect Meghan and Harry to pave their own path… And we can’t wait to see it!
