The last time we saw Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex together was when they clung to each other in grief at his grandmother’s funeral.
Since then, insiders say their show of togetherness has completely cooled after returning to the US.
In fact, following the Queen’s funeral, sources insist the couple have been embroiled in several disagreements over their upcoming projects – allegedly resulting in 38-year-old Harry “packing his bags and taking off for a few days”.
NOT ADDING UP
Widespread reports in the American media have claimed that their upcoming Netflix documentaries were found to be riddled with discrepancies from Harry’s impending memoir Spare, which is released on January 10.
Insiders maintain there were huge claims made in the series that “won’t add up if you’ve read Harry’s manuscript“.
And the person most shocked of all about this is said to be the prince himself.
“Word is, he blames Meghan for going off the plan and saying too much of her own truth in the docuseries – and as he learned from how their Oprah interview was picked apart, her truth isn’t always the truth,” says an insider.
“Harry has every right to be annoyed – they’ve been working on this rollout of their projects for years, and now there’s a real risk of the Netflix series falling apart, just like her children’s series Pearl did earlier this year. And given their California house is mortgaged to the hilt, they need the money.”
Rumours that all is not well in the Sussexes’ marriage began circulating last month, when Harry made a surprise appearance at a mental health conference in San Francisco.
“He showed up without Meghan and didn’t mention her at all, which is uncharacteristic of him – usually they can’t wait to heap praise on each other in a public setting,” notes one insider.
“Apparently, he was in no rush to return to Montecito, either, and stuck around the Bay Area as long as he could.”
Meanwhile, it’s believed Meghan, 41, will be attending a women’s conference in Indiana later this month on her own.
Controversial royal Lady Colin Campbell last week went so far as to claim on her YouTube channel that the couple have quietly separated. Woman’s Day was unable to confirm her allegations.
“The sorts of things Harry and Meghan have been and will be doing over the next couple of months are very intense – cracks would show even in the most solid of marriages,” concedes a source.
“Have there been problems between them? Maybe so. But will they actually split? It’s unlikely, at the moment anyway.”
