Prince Harry said that he would rather be at the nuptials of trashy celebrities Katie Price and Peter Andre than that of his stepbrother Tom Parker Bowles, a court heard yesterday.
While giving evidence at a The News of the World phone hacking trial, Clive Goodman, then the royal editor of the tabloid told the court he had deployed lipreaders to spy on the society wedding in 2005.
According to an email sent by Goodman to editor, Andy Coulson, Harry had said: “To be honest, I’d rather be at Jordan’s (Katie Price’s).”
Coulson replied asking: “How did we get this?” Goodman said it was a result of eavesdropping from lipreaders at the ceremony.
Mr Parker Bowles married Sara Buys in Oxfordshire on the same day as model Ms Price – known as Jordan – married Mr Andre at Highclere Castle in one of the tackiest celeb ceremonies of recent times.
“It was not unusual to use lipreaders at such events,” Goodman told the court.
The former royal correspondent admitted to conspiring and intercepting both Prince William and Harry’s phone messages to get royal scoops and was sentenced to four months in jail in 2007.
