She’s barely two days old, but Princess Cambridge is the focus of celebration across the world and her family could not be happier.
Her uncle Harry expressed his delight via a Kensington palace spokesman in a loving message that read: “She is absolutely beautiful, I can’t wait to meet her.”
The red-headed royal is on secondment in Perth and despite spending his new niece’s birth at a football game, he received a call from his proud brother to inform him of the exciting arrival.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also voiced their gratitude for the public’s overwhelming support.
“The Duke and Duchess are hugely grateful for the messages of congratulations they have received from people all over the world,” said the spokesman.
He added: “It means a great deal to them that so many people have celebrated the arrival of their new daughter.”
The new Princess and fourth in line to the throne was born May 2 in London at 8:34am weighing in at a healthy 8lbs 3oz.
The newborn has not been short on visitors, with grandparents Charles, Camilla, Michael and Carole Middleton all beaming with joy as they drove through the gates of Kensington Palace to meet their new grandchild.
Aunty Pippa was among the first of the royal’s relatives to meet the Princess, who was brought home just 10 hours after being born.

Her majesty the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh, who are currently staying in private residence in Norfolk, are yet to meet the new addition to their family.
The Monarch is expected to be introduced to her fifth great-grandchild when Kate and William return to Anmer Hall, their country home on the edge of the Queen’s Norfolk estate, later in the week.
No word yet on the Princess’ name, however the guessing game seems to be keeping everyone occupied, with punters favouring either Charlotte, Alice or Elizabeth.
