The 31-year-old royal is currently in Virginia to promote the 2016 Invictus Games and he’s got the support from some pretty high profile Americans.
He was joined by First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr Jill Biden, the Vice President’s wife, as they met with wounded service men and women enrolled in treatment and rehab facilities.
The trio then went on to watch a Paralympic sporting event, where Prince Harry was up to his usual cheeky behaviour, making the First Lady of the United States giggle like a school girl – but who can blame her?
The British Prince and Mrs Obama have formed a close friendship over the years, and she vowed to do all she can to give Harry’s beloved charity, the Invcitus Games, the exposure it deserves in the US.
“We’re going to do whatever we can to shine a light on this event,” Michelle said. “We need to celebrate all of you our wounded warriors.”
“I am in no doubt that my two deployments to Afghanistan changed the direction of my life. I knew I had a responsibility to help all veterans to lead healthy and dignified lives after service,” Prince Harry told an auditorium full of veterans.
“The 2014 Invictus Games epitomised the very best of the human spirit. We have to talk more about breaking down barriers around so-called invisible injuries like post-traumatic stress. I am sure the American public will embrace Invictus just as the British public did in 2014,” he added.
Michelle and Harry first met in 2013 at the White House during an event to support military families and since then, their mutual passions for veterans and women’s education have meant they’ve developed a firm friendship.
The Invictus Games will take place in Florida during May next year.
