Prince Charles has found himself at the centre of a rather awkward encounter!
During a visit to Durham on Thursday, the 69-year-old royal was pulled into an embrace from an excited fan as he went about chatting with well-wishers.
Helen Bell — wearing hot pink knitted gloves and a pom-pom adorned beanie — unexpectedly wrapped her arms around the prince, prompting his security team to spring into action. The prince, however, seemed relatively unfazed by the show of affection.
Speaking about the moment to ITV, Helen described the surprise cuddle as “wonderful.”
When asked why she decided to hug him, she said: “I don’t know, I’ve watched him on the telly, and I felt overwhelmed… He was alright yeah. I won’t forget that moment.”
Helen also revealed her earlier (and, we have to admit, less-than-memorable) chat with the first-in-line to the throne, telling the reporter: “He said, ‘Are you alright?’ and I said, ‘Yes.'”

It’s a busy time of year for the beloved royal, who is no doubt eagerly awaiting the nupitals of his son Prince Harry and fiancée Meghan Markle.
The wedding of the year is just months away and recently, Kensington Palace released amazing new details on the big day.
According to the palace’s statement, the proceedings will begin at 12pm sharp on Saturday, May 19th. For those planning to tune in from Australia, that will be 11pm AEST.
The ceremony at St. George’s Chapel will last an hour and at 1pm UK time, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will make their dazzling debut as husband and wife on a horse-drawn carriage, which will work its way around the town centre so well-wishers can catch a glimpse of the newlyweds.
It will no doubt remind fans of similar scenes that played out during Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s 2011 wedding.

“They hope this short journey will provide an opportunity for more people to come together around Windsor and to enjoy the atmosphere of this special day,” the statement said.
Following the carriage procession, guests will gather inside St. George’s Hall for a day-time reception before mingling at a private reception thrown by the groom’s father.
While there’s no word yet on the guest list, the palace promised they’ll share more details in due course.
