As the world waits with bated breath for Kate Middleton to give birth to her second child, the Duke Of Cornwall has reportedly admitted to an onlooker at an outing to Windsor Castle in Berkshire, England on Thursday that he’d love to have some femininity in the family mix.
During the event, which celebrated the first Batallion Welsh Guards’ centennial, the 66-year-old struck up a conversation with 100-year-old war veteran Eric Jones about the trials and tribulations of raising a daughter.
Eric’s daughter Lynda Bateman explained of the revealing encounter: “My father introduced me as his daughter and Prince Charles asked how many daughters he had.
“My father said ‘One and that’s enough’ and Charles laughed and said ‘And we’re hoping for a granddaughter!’”
When Charles was questioned by well-wisher Maureen Morris about the status of the belated royal bub, he apparently had no updates.
“I asked if she had any news and he said ‘No’. I said ‘It will be great when it happens,’” Maureen explained.
Despite Kate previously stating she was due “mid to late April” there’s still no signs of a bouncing new baby and with the month drawing to a close, many believe she is several days past her due date.
It’s believed that Kate is now several days overdue as the Duchess herself has previously stated she is due late April.
As the Great Kate Wait continues, police officers have extended the parking restrictions outside the Lindo Wing at St Mary’s hospital – where Kate is due give birth – to May 5 May.
