The Swedish royal family have released new portraits of Prince Carl Philip, Princess Sofia and their two children — Prince Alexander, one, and newborn Prince Gabriel.
And can we just say… we’re into the colour coordination.
Taken in September by photographer Erika Geredemark at Sweden’s Gate of the Royal Palace, the first of two pastel-washed photos shows the young family of four all together.
The second official shot shows a close-up of the newborn as he gazes — besotted — toward his proud parents.
According to People, the family took the opportunity to showcase Scandinavian fashion with Sofia opting for a cream coloured coat by Veronica Virta and Carl Philip wearing an understated, though perfectly tailored suit by local designer Oscar Jacobson.
Meanwhile, Alexander wears a sweater, shirt and chino pants from Swedish-based store Gant and the littlest prince, Gabriel, is said to be dressed by Norwegian brand Lillelam.
In a statement accompanying the photos, the couple said: “A big and warm thanks for all the kind congratulations in connection with the birth of our son, Prince Gabriel. We appreciate your kindness very much.”
Prince Carl, 38, and Princess Sofia, 32, welcomed Gabriel — their second child — on Thursday, August 31.
The Swedish Royal Court announced the happy news in a statement, adding that both “mother and child are doing well.”
“On Thursday, 31 August at 11:24 a.m., Princess Sofia welcomed a healthy and prosperous child at Danderyd Hospital,” the statement read. “Both mother and child are doing well.”
Shortly after the birth was announced, the proud dad-of-two mustered up the energy to offer a brief statement to reporters.
“We are really happy,” he said. “It’s a very cute boy.”
“It feels great, pure joy! He seems to be a very charming little boy and Sofia is a wonderful mom. It’s overwhelming,” he continued. “He has a draw of both me and Sofia.”
The royal couple, who wed in a lavish ceremony in 2015, spoke out about their transition into parenthood shortly after the birth of their first-born.
“It’s amazing,” the former reality television star told Sweden’s Svenskdam during a visit to Stenhammar Palace, situated just 120 kilometers south of Stockholm.
“He is very sweet and well-behaved,” she said.
When asked who the newborn takes after, Sofia quipped, “He’s a little mixture of both of us! And it’s different every day.”
Meanwhile, Carl spoke about the way in which their lives had changed since the welcoming the little prince.
“The first time has been a shift, of course, but it is still absolutely amazing and wonderful,” he said.
“Having children changes your whole life.”
Congratulations again to the happy family-of-four!
