Prince Alexander will have five godparents in total. Carl Philip’s older sister and the future queen of Sweden, Crown Princess Victoria, Sofia’s sister Lina Frejd and Sofia’s childhood pal, Wendy Larsson will all be given a godmother role. The ceremony is set to be held at 11 o’clock at the Drottningholm Palace Church in Sweden on Friday.

The church service will be televised by Sweden’s national broadcaster, SVT and then the royals will have a small reception with invited guests.

As is tradition, Prince Alexander – who was born in April this year – will wear the same christening gown that was worn by his father, and first worn by Prince Gustaf Adolf in 1906.

Thousands of well-wishers lined the streets for the wedding of Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia last year.
