The Duchess of Cambridge’s little sister Pippa Middleton has officially tied the knot to her banker beau, James Matthews.
On Saturday, May 20, the couple said “I do” at St Marks’s Church in Englefield in front of 150 guests, including Prince William, Duchess Catherine and Prince Harry.
Pippa, 33, stunned in an incredible lace creation by Giles Deacon, featuring a high-neck, capped sleeves, a heart-shaped back and a full skirt.
Deacon explained he was “thrilled to work with Pippa on her wedding dress.”
“It’s all hand-pieced which is why you don’t actually see a seam. She has a great eye, she knew what she wanted,” he added of the show-stopping creation.
Keeping things classic, the bride swept her brunette locks up into a stylish chignon and held onto an understated bouquet of flowers.
She finished off her look with Manolo Blahnik ivory pumps, a bespoke veil by milliner, Stephen Jones, and a one-off hair piece which was handmade especially for Pippa by Robinson Pelham.
Arriving to the quaint British church in a vintage Jaguar Mark V before taking the arm of her father, Michael Middleton, the former event planner positively beamed with excitement.
Following the ceremony, Pippa and James, 41, made their big debut as husband and wife. Exiting the church hand-in-hand, they shared a romantic kiss as they were showered in flower petals by their bridal party.
Stealing the show were of course Pippa’s adorable niece and nephew – Prince George, who had a starring role as pageboy, and Princess Charlotte, who was one of Pippa’s bridesmaids.
Two-year-old Charlotte stepped out in a gorgeous white dress by Spanish designer Pepa and Co, complete with a tiny flower crown and a basket for her petals.
George rocked a retro look in beige knickerbockers and a white shirt. Taking charge of the pageboys, the future King of England lead the pack of the kids.
Duchess Catherine, who opted for an elegant peach frock by Alexander McQueen and a Jane Taylor hat, was on kiddie duty and rounded up all the children before quietly ushering them into the church.
Despite Pippa and Kate’s unbreakable bond, traditional etiquette dictates that married women can’t serves as the maid of honour.
There’s also the small fact she’s the future Queen of England so being in the bridal party may upstage the bride herself. Don’t worry Pippa, we totally get it!
Kate may not have had an official role but she was the first person to greet Pippa when she arrived and even fluffed her wedding dress before she walked down the aisle.
Before Pippa’s grand entrance, a slew of celebrities and royalty made their way into the church.
A-lists guests include Prince William, Prince Harry, Princess Eugenie and tennis champ Rodger Federer.
Although Prince Harry’s girlfriend Meghan Markle didn’t attend the ceremony, it’s believed she’s invited to the reception.
Following the romantic ceremony, the reception will be held on the grounds of the Middleton Family’s Bucklebury home, where 350 guests will gather under an incredible glass marquee.
According to E! News, the newylweds have selected a bespoke wedding cake from London’s boutique Domino Purchas Cakes.
It’s believed they’ll be heading to the picturesque Scottish highlands for their honeymoon.
Local papers report that the newlyweds will spend their first escape as a married couple at the Matthews’ Affric Lodge – a lavish mansion that sits on a 10,000 acre plot just a short drive away from Loch Ness.
With eight bedrooms, a whiskey room, a reading room and countryside views of Loch Affric, the estate would make for a perfect escape with the options to sail and fish.
After a few days in the highlands, the couple are expected to take a tropical turn and head over to Eden Rock – a luxurious beach resort also owned by the millionaire’s family on the island of St. Barts.
Pippa and James, whose brother is Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews, began dating in January last year following her break-up from Nico Jackson.
The longtime friends, who dated for a short period in 2012, were first linked after looking cosy together on holidays in St. Barts.
Her engagement to James was confirmed in June, 2016.
“I couldn’t be happier,” Pippa said at the time.
Confirming the happy news, Pippa and James released a statement to the Press Association saying, “Miss Pippa Middleton and Mr. James Matthews are delighted to announce they became engaged on Sunday 17th July and plan to marry next year.”
A Kensington Palace spokesperson for Duchess Catherine and Prince William echoed the sentiment: “The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are absolutely delighted with the news.”
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
