Many of us would remember Prince William and Duchess Catherine’s breathtaking wedding ceremony in 2011 which was held in London’s Westminster Abbey.

And in a beautiful retro twist the couple, who had known each other for some time, exchanged love letters during Elizabeth’s teenage years before tying the knot on 20 November, 1947.

Their first appearance on the balcony as newlyweds captured hearts across the globe.

The film, which was released by the Associated Press and British Movietone, is full of nostalgia as it shows the day’s highlights including a close up shot of Elizabeth and Philip’s signed marriage certificate.
Queen Elizabeth has reigned for 62 years, but at the core of the iconic woman, she is someone who has loved.

The pair are incredibly close, but Philip recalled that it took some coaxing.
“You were so shy. I couldn’t get a word out of you,” the Duke of Edinburgh once recalled of his meeting with Elizabeth in 1939.
But it looks like those times have well and truly ended with the Queen’s former private secretary Lord Charteris admitting, “It is not unknown for the Queen to tell the Duke to shut up.”
“You can take it from me, the Queen has the quality of tolerance in abundance,” Philip joked after 50 years of marriage and 10 years later he laughed that, “the secret of a happy marriage is to have different interests.”
Joking aside, it is clear that it is the Prince’s utter devotion to his wife that has been a backbone to their incredible partnership.
“My job first, second and last is never to let the Queen down,” he has sweetly said.
Prince Philip is the ever-doting husband, caring for his wife, the Queen, as he holds her hand through life.
