We may have all waved goodbye to Ramsay street in an emotional finale in July, but it turns out we haven’t seen the last of Neighbours.
The popular Aussie soap is returning this Monday, September 18 At 4:30pm On 10 And 10 Play And 6:30pm On 10 Peach. Or you can wait till it comes out on Prime Video Australia and New Zealand on September 25.
Some original fan favourites will be returning to our screens including Stefan Dennis, Alan Fletcher, Ryan Moloney, Jackie Woodburne and many more alongside a bunch of “fresh new faces” who call Erinsborough home.
In the teaser trailer, the wedding of the century with a “jaw-dropping twist” will be taking place in the premiere.
Non other than Guy Pearce, who stars as bad boy Mike Young, will star as the husband to be. As for who he is marrying? His long-lost-love bookworm Jane Harris (played by Annie Jones), proving that love wins in the end.
But there’s trouble in their mists, with a guest asking Mike “you’re not having second thoughts, are you?” Or will Des Clarke (played by Paul Keane) try and retake Jane, his bride to be before she ran away to ‘England’ and left the show?
In a press release, Stefan Dennis hinted fans won’t know what to expect.
“Not even the Neighbours‘ writing team, as clever as they are, could have plotted a comeback storyline like this! To be here filming this next chapter, we’ve proven again that this show is never predictable and always full of surprises,” he said.
“It’s fantastic for our loyal fans and for the local television industry, and I can’t wait to let Paul Robinson loose again on Ramsay Street.”
Meanwhile, CEO of Fremantle added: “Neighbours is a unique series with a powerful connection with its fans across the world. We cherish the show and all those who have been part of its incredible story over many decades, so we are thrilled that we have found a new home with Amazon Freevee.”
“This partnership with Amazon Freevee marks an exciting new chapter, and we look forward to collaborating with them, along with our long-term and valued partner in Australia, Network 10.”
Beverley McGarvey from Paramount Australia and New Zealand also added: “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Neighbours back home to Network 10, and while we loved the finale earlier this year and appreciated the incredible support from the cast, crew and fans, we continued to hold a small glimmer of hope that one day it would be possible to resume the series.
Fremantle Australia’s Greg Woods attested that the “love for Neighbours has been undeniable.”
Neighbours was on our screens for over three decades and nearly 9,000 episodes, being very popular in the UK especially.
Its cancellation was confirmed in March after the loss of a key broadcast partner in the UK and, subsequently, funds.
The final episode saw many famous faces return, including Kylie Minogue, Guy Pearce, Jason Donovan, and Margot Robbie.
It kicked off with a special tribute to all the years gone by, including every title card from 1985 until now.

The series came to an emotional close as Susan wrote her introduction to the oh so special history book and reminded everyone watching at home how special Ramsay St – and the show – was.
“I think you have to acknowledge everything, celebrate it all – the good, the bad – because all of that makes us who we are,” she said as the theme song began to play.
“Everyone deserves a place in the history of Ramsay Street, even those who watched us from afar.”
Neighbours premieres Monday, September 18 At 4:30pm on 10 And 10 Play, and 6:30pm on 10 Peach.
The revitalised Neighbours will also be available to stream on Prime Video in Australia & New Zealand seven days following the free to air viewing of the new series. Subscribe today while they have a 30 day FREE TRIAL offer.
