It’s all happening for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex – that’s Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for those of you playing at home.
The couple celebrate their one-year wedding anniversary on May 19, and have recently welcomed their first son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.
And in honour of the royal couple’s momentous year, Channel 7 is premiering the movie Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, the follow-up flick to 2018 hit Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance.
The film brings to life how the couple – played by Charlie Field (Genius) and Tiffany Smith (Supernatural) – frequently bucked royal tradition and forged their own path within the royal family.
And you can even expect to see a showdown between Meghan and her father Thomas Markle, who allegedly staged paparazzi photos of himself preparing for his daughter’s big day.
“If I don’t speak up before the wedding, the world is just gonna see me as a girl in a dress. I have to start living up to the person I want to be,” character Meghan says in the trailer for the film, in relation to the incident that eventuated in Thomas skipping the royal wedding in real life.
Joining the cast is Jordan Whalen (Prince William), Laura Mitchell (Kate Middleton), Maggie Sullivan (Queen Elizabeth II), Timothy Temple (Prince Philip), Charles Shaughnessy (Prince Charles), Deborah Ramsay (Camilla Parker Bowles) and Bonnie Soper (Princess Diana).
The celebrity wedding guests, including Oprah, Victoria and David Beckham and George and Amal Clooney, will “definitely play a part in the movie”, too, says screenwriter Scarlett Lacey.
“Perhaps what’s surprising is how much the movie gets into the real human emotions of the story,” explains Scarlett. “We weren’t just interested in the tabloid aspects.
These characters are real people living in extraordinary circumstances at a crucial time in history.”
And we can’t wait to see it!
Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal is coming soon to Channel Seven.
