Prepare yourself for a healthy dose of nostalgia, as Ladies In Black sets the clock back to Sydney 1959.
Based on the novel of the same name, the Australian film follows Lisa (Angourie Rice), a shy young schoolgirl who takes a summer job at Goode’s – a David Jones-style high-end department store.
She’s quickly exposed to a whole new world, falling in love with fashion while meeting migrants for the very first time.
It doesn’t take long for Lisa to realise the shortcomings of her suburban upbringing.
Newcomer Angourie is magnetic as doe-eyed Lisa, while Rachael Taylor and Alison McGirr steal the show as Lisa’s mischievous co-workers, Fay and Patty respectively .
Also keep an eye out for Shane Jacobson, Susie Porter, Ryan Corr and Noni Hazlehurst, who round out the impressive homegrown line-up.
Behind the camera, Ladies In Black marks a long-awaited return for Oscar-nominated director Bruce Beresford, who is helming his first Aussie film in a decade.
Funny, charming and full of heart, the flick is sure to charm.
Ladies in Black is in cinemas now, scroll up to watch the Australian cast in action in the trailer.
