Meghan Markle has finally revealed the tiara she has chosen for her wedding – and it is the stunning and understated Queen Mary’s Diamond Bandeau.

The diamond tiara features a centre jewel detail, and was worn in Meghan’s perfect up-do hair-tying everything together perfectly.

Like all the tiaras in the Queen’s jewellery vault, the Queen Mary Diamond Bandeau, has a regal history. It belonged to Prince Harry’s great-great grandmother,Queen Mary, and she was the most frequent wearer of it.

Wearing a tiara from the Queen’s own vault is seem as showing Meghan’s commitment to her new life in the royal family. It also shows the Queen’s respect for Harry’s new wife.

Kate Middleton’s “something borrowed” for her 2011 wedding day was this incredible creation, the Cartier Halo tiara, made of diamonds and platinum, which he Queen very kindly lent to her, as with Meghan.

King George VI commissioned Cartier to make it in 1936 as a gift to his wife, Queen Elizabeth (aka The Queen Mother). She handed it down her daughter, Princess Elizabeth, for her 18th birthday and it’s been in The Queen’s collection ever since.
