Like her husband Harry, Meghan has wanted children for years, describing starting a family as a “dream.”
“It’s all about balance, and I have so much happiness in my career and am fortunate to travel the world and see so many amazing things – it will also be nice to be anchored to something grounded and in the same place,” she has said.
“Raising a family will be a wonderful part of that.”
As Meghan is extremely close to her own mum, Doria Ragland, it’s clear she’ll be a hands-on mother as well as a progressive one.
During her pregnancy, she spoke about feeling “the embryonic kick of feminism.”
And she credits her mother with teaching her the importance of giving back – something she will pass on to her own kids.
“This is what I grew up seeing, so that is what I grew up being: a young adult with a social consciousness to do what I could,” she wrote on her now defunct website The Tig.
And with her newborn son Archie, Meghan plans to start as she means to go on.

“She wants to lead by example and make sure everyone sees her as a woman paving her own way in the world and not relying on her husband,” an insider tells Woman’s Day.
“Meghan’s a feminist to the core and will show her son as he grows up that his mother and father are very much equals.”
And that includes on the work front. The new mum is reportedly only taking three months’ maternity leave, compared with sister-in-law Kate’s six after she had Prince Louis in 2018.
“Meghan has made it very clear she wants to return to work as soon as possible. She has huge amounts of energy… and wants to be as hands-on as possible with her charities,” a source says.
“She’ll most likely return to public life in six weeks – on the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, in June.”
