Duchess Meghan is gearing up to make another stirring public appearance as her next speaking gig is confirmed.
The 39-year-old royal, who celebrated her birthday this week in her new base of Los Angeles, will be joining a panel of inspiring women as they take part in the The 19th* Represents virtual summit which is based around gender equality.
And while Meghan will be a major headliner for the day’s program, there are a number of other inspiring females to look out for.
Ahead of the empowering event on Friday, August 14, the Duchess shared some words with Glamour, saying: “The 19th*’s commitment to reporting and storytelling that lifts up those who are too often underrepresented in the media has never been more important.
“I’m looking forward to asking the co-founder what it means to build a media outlet with gender equity, diversity, and community at its core.”
Meghan’s appearance at the virtual summit will include an interview with the The 19th* Represents’ co-founder and CEO Emily Ramshaw.
A former editor-in-chief for the Texas Tribune, Emily has since become a Pulitzer Prize winner and now spearheads the organisation, which works to empower women, particularly people of colour and those underrepresented by American media, with information, resources and a supportive community to be “equal participants in our democracy,” the website states.
This won’t be the first time the Duchess has taken part in an empowering summit amidst the COVID-19 crisis.
With virtual conferences now very much a part of our new norm, Meghan has fully embraced the power of a video call.
In July, she dialled into the Girl Up summit where she shared some stirring words.
“Use your voice both on-and-offline to do just that – build each other up, support each other,” she told watchers on behalf of the organisation, which works to empower young women in the US and across the world.
Her next appearance is welcome news given Meghan has been keeping a very low profile since her move to Los Angeles.
Celebrating her 39th birthday this week, the Duchess kept things low-key with her family in their Californian home.
