What’s a baby shower without the grandma-to-be? Well, in Meghan Markle’s case it appears it isn’t.
Indeed, there was a noticeable absentee from Meghan’s lavish NYC baby shower in February – Meghan’s mum Doria Ragland.
But it seems there’s no harm done here for the royal as reports emerge that she is planning a second event to rival her New York baby bash, and Doria is top of the guest list.
According to Express.co.uk, a second baby shower is in the works for the royal, who will this time celebrate the festivities in the UK.
“It is reported there will be a second baby shower in the UK and it is possible that Doria will be invited to that,” a royal expert told the publication.
The source also added that there is a high chance Kate will attend the second event, which suggests that the pair’s rumoured feud is at its end as Meghan’s due date approaches.

Meghan’s friends threw an enviable NYC bash in February ahead of the birth of her first child.
At the time, royal watchers questioned the absence of Doria in the elite guest-list, which included Amal Cloony, Serena Williams and Meghan’s longtime pal Jessica Mulroney.
But according to the royal source, there was a very good reason for it.
“If 15 of your closest friends join you in a baby shower you want to be able to relax as a group, something you can’t always do with a parent present, however much loved,” he explained.
“Meghan and her friends will have had tremendous fun and the baby shower in Manhattan, with no expense spared, has been controversial and has also received enormous publicity.
“So will the second baby shower which is reportedly planned in the UK. She is doing things her way!”
The source added that this baby shower will differ to the NYC event in that it will be much more private.
“It’s very possible that the one in the UK, if held, will be private in contrast to the one in New York,” he said.
It has been confirmed that Meghan is officially on maternity leave as of this week, with her last appearance having taken place earlier in March at the Commonwealth Day celebrations.
Stepping out in a Victoria Beckham white coat and pillbox hat, Meghan (and her rather rotund baby bump!) looked radiant and ready to become a mum.
It is believed the Duchess will give birth within the next month, with many referencing Duchess Catherine’s previous maternity leave timings as an indicator for Meghan’s due date.
Kate officially commenced her maternity leave around 32-37 days ahead of giving birth to her three children, so if this is anything to go by, we can expect baby Sussex to be making his or her appearance in mid-April.
Another key indication of Meghan’s looming due date came when she attended the Commonwealth Day celebrations noticeably without her rings.
It is understood that women’s hands and feet often swell in the late stages of pregnancy, usually right before they give birth.
If this is anything to go by, we’re hoping that this second baby shower takes place sooner, rather than later!
