As Duchess Meghan celebrated her very first Mother’s Day as a brand new mum, we couldn’t help but hope that she might choose to share a new picture of her baby son Archie, who is just one week old today.
And almost as though she heard us, the royal has well and truly delivered by sharing a gorgeous snap of herself holding the newborn – and we cannot stop staring.
The royal, who gave birth to her first child with Prince Harry on May 6, only just introduced the adorable newborn to the world mere days ago, announcing his name as Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor at the same time.
Now, the Duchess has paid tribute to more than one mother as she shared the new photo of her son, where her hand is seen holding his tiny feet over a garden bed of Forget Me Not flowers.

In the gorgeous post, the caption referenced all the countries that celebrated Mother’s Day on May 12.
“Today is Mother’s Day in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Kenya, Japan, and several countries across Europe,” the caption read.
“Paying tribute to all mothers today – past, present, mothers-to-be, and those lost but forever remembered. We honor and celebrate each and every one of you.”
The Duke and Duchess then shared a beautiful quote from Nayyirah Waheed, a poet and writer.
“My mother was my first country; the first place i ever lived.”

The picture appears to have a deeper meaning than simply a sweet picture showing a mother and her child.
Indeed Princess Diana’s favourite flower is a Forget-Me-Not, meaning the image is dedicated to more than one mother, Harry’s.
The hidden message is a truly moving tribute from the royals.

Fans have taken to the @SussexRoyal Instagram account to share their praise for the refreshingly raw picture and caption – especially given that the UK celebrate’s Mother’s Day on a completely different day of the year.
“As an American in the UK, thank you for making me feel like It’s not an issue to celebrate today. It can be difficult having different traditions from everyone else,” one fan wrote.
Meanwhile, another commented on the meaningfulness behind the Diana tribute.
“Your thoughtfulness love and compassion towards your husband on what must be both a sad and beautiful day for him is breathtaking,” they wrote.

In March, the pair launched their Instagram account in a surprise move – and there was something very familiar about it.
Indeed, Meghan has long been suspected of writing all of the Instagram posts herself, especially considering the use of American spelling and phrases in some of the captions.
In the most recent post of baby Archie, Meghan’s touch might be seen in the choice of including the poet Nayyirah Waheed, whose Instagram account was tagged in the caption.
Waheed’s social media profile has seen it’s popularity rise dramatically in recent times. In fact, according to follower count website Social Blade, Nayyirah had around 525,000 followers in April 2018, rising now to more than 750,000.
That means in barely two weeks, the writer has garnered more than 200,000 followers!
We can only imagine the amazing credit from Sussex Royal has helped this along – and we’re all for it. Nayyirah has a beautiful way with words, which were no doubt enjoyed by Meghan herself.
