As the cast and crew of Suits, including Prince Harry’s wife-to-be Meghan Markle, filmed the final scenes of season seven in Toronto last week, security was amped up to keep all prying eyes away.

The location was kept top-secret, sets blacked out and call sheets issued on a need-to-know basis.

But it turns out the extreme measures weren’t just to protect the season finale – and star Meghan Markle’s very last appearance on the legal drama – from being spoiled.

Instead, Prince Harry was using the occasion to disguise another special event … a huge engagement party for him and his bride-to-be!

And he planned the entire romantic occasion with the help of Meghan’s Suits co-stars and friends.

“Originally Meghan was nervous about people finding out about the secret engagement do, but was comforted by the fact that her leaving was a good way of covering it up.”

Once he got the go ahead and juggled his schedule with the help of his team, Prince Harry flew into Toronto for just 24 hours – a short stop designed to keep any suspicions at bay.

A 70 strong team of security guards accompanied the 32-year-old prince to the event, which was held at the Art Gallery, a commercial arts space nestled in the historic distillery district of Toronto.

“The Suits cast and crew went all-out with the planning,” says our insider.

But it wasn’t all drinks and dancing, and the 36-year-old actress also used the occasion to make an emotional speech as she prepared to pick up and leave Toronto for her new home with Harry in London.

“Meghan broke down in tears at the end as she thanked the Suits cast and crew and spoke about ‘the love of my life’, Harry, his unwavering support and the fact he always has her back.”
