If there’s one thing we as a nation take seriously, it’s our love and obsession with the second longest-running soapie in Australia.

Channel 7 drama Home And Away has become the linchpin to everything that is good and Aussie.

TV WEEK may no longer be on Facebook but you can find our incredible content everywhere else:

With over three decades of episodes episodes in the can, with the first-ever show airing back in January 1988, it’s become the breeding ground to some major A-list stars, incredibly heartbreaking TV moments, iconic Aussie phrases (looking at you, Alf Stewart) and of course, life-long friendships between the cast members.

That’s right, even when the cameras stop rolling, the gang are as close as ever.

With such a rich history, the stars of the show genuinely like each other and have each other’s back.

Case in point – former co-stars-turned-best-mates Lynne McGranger (Irene Roberts) and Johnny Ruffo (Chris Harrington). Although Johnny left the show in 2016, his bond with Lynne remains unbreakable.

Lynne and Johnny have forged a firm friendship on the set of Home And Away – and all these years later, they’re still as close as ever.

Over the weekend, the good friends headed out to a local Sydney restaurant to catch up.

Taking to social media to document their sweet mate date, the pair uploaded a series of snaps from their outing.

“Always a pleasure catching up with this beautiful lady 😁🍝,” Johnny shared.

While Lynne posted a snap with Johnny and her husband Paul McWaters, who also joined them, and mused: “Lunch with these Muppets. @mcsquirta @johnny_ruffo Missed you @tahneesims 💕😍.”

Tahnee Sims is of course Johnny’s longterm partner, who did not make the lunch but offered up this comment: “Aww 😍😍😍.”

Lynne has been there for Johnny through some of his toughest times.

Late last year after he announced the heartbreaking news his brain cancer had returned, the actress was one of the first people to offer her support and love to the 32-year-old.

“Sending love always my dear friend. 💪🏽💪🏽💜💜💜Wishing you both a relaxing Christmas and let me know when you’re feeling up to a catch up – we’re not going anywhere 🙄😜,” she wrote at the time.

The pair initially bonded over a mutual love of AFL, and they now have a sweet tradition with their respective teams whereby whichever finishes lower on the table each season, the loser owes dinner.

“I still see Lynne McGranger every other week,” Johnny has previously revealed of their friendship.

Johnny is feeling the love from Lynne as he faces brain cancer again for a second time.
