Kylie Minogue rose to icon status in our hearts when she played Charlene Robinson from 1986 to 1988 on Neighbours.
Her sweet Aussie accent, 80s curls, and palpable chemistry with Jason Donovan were moments to remember in Australian history.
After hearing the news of Neighbours production coming to an end, the pop princess took to Twitter to share she will be “forever grateful” for her time on the show.
“We had no idea how big the show would become and how passionately viewers would take it to heart,” she reminisced.
To conclude her tribute, she gushed over the memories that she will hold dear to her heart.
“Pure love! 💞🏡 I can still hear Madge calling … CHARLENE!!!!”
On Thursday, March 2, 2022, the soap’s Twitter broke the news by announcing: “We are so sorry to say that after nearly 37 years and almost 9000 episodes broadcast, we have to confirm that Neighbours will ceased production in June. But will return in early 2023!
“Following the loss of our key broadcast partner in the UK and despite an extensive search for alternative funding, we simply have no option but to rest the show.
“To our amazing, loyal fans, we know this is a huge disappointment, as it is to all of us on the team. We thank you for all your messages and support and promise to end the show on an incredible high. From here on, we are celebrating Neighbours. “
