The newly minted monarch King Charles has shared a heartfelt message to Australians facing ongoing flooding in their communities.
Posted to the official @theroyalfamily Instagram account, Charles spoke on behalf of himself and Queen Consort Camilla, sharing his condolences and offerring his support to those undoubtedly going through a difficult time, especially in the lead up to the festive season.
”It is with great concern that my wife and I followed the news of the terrible floods in recent weeks in Victoria,” the post starts.
”Our heartfelt thoughts are with all those affected and for the losses that have been suffered.
”Whilst I do realise that this emergency is not over, I do want to pay tribute to the extraordinary efforts of those mebers of the emergency services, Australian Defence Force and the thousands of community volunteers who have been involved in rescue and recovery efforts.
The post then continued to say how ”inspiring” it had been to watch impacted communities ”pull together” during such a difficult time.
”It has been particuarly inspiring to see how communities have pulled together to protect homes and livestock and to support each other during this appallingly difficult period.
”We send out kindest and special wishes to all Victorians as you continue to demonstrate your remarkable resilience and strength.”
Whilst the message was well recieved by many, others were quick to comment on the fact that floods were impacting more than Victorian communities.
”NSW is getting smashed too mate. We’ve had a rough trot down here, droughts, bushfires, COVID and now floods which have been going all year. So many people have lost their homes more than once, so many are still displaced,” one commentor wrote.
”Very kind your Majesty, but New South Wales is also coping it really hard,” said another.
”Not sure why Victoria has ben focused on when the floods have affected the whole south east of Australia for months on end,” someone else shared.
It seems that whilst the monarchs message was genuine, his access to updated information is not.
