It’s not often you get to see members of the royal family, let alone join them in celebrating something special.
But for New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern, US President Joe Biden and our own Prime Minister Scott Morrison, St Patrick’s Day posed the perfect opportunity for exactly that.
Sharing a clip on Instagram, Kensington Palace revealed Kate Middleton and Prince William celebrated March 17 this year in the most 2020 / 2021 way – via a group video message with their powerful comrades across the world.
In the video, Kate and Wills stand central while snippets of other Prime Ministers and Presidents are embedded around them.
All of them tell the camera “Happy St Patrick’s Day”.
For the occasion, Kate wore a gorgeous (and very apt) green jacket – a now sold out, yet very affordable Zara steal, no less.
Interestingly, we couldn’t help but notice Kate’s hair is also looking a lot longer these days – perhaps she, like many of us, forwent the hairdressers while in lockdown.
This isn’t the only way the royals have celebrated St Patrick’s Day this year.
Earlier this week, the Queen shared a message with the President of Ireland, His Excellency Michael D. Higgins.
She said: “On the occasion of your National Day, I would like to convey to Your Excellency my congratulations, together with my best wishes to the people of Ireland.”
The Queen then referenced her last tour of Ireland, telling him: “This year marks ten years since my visit to Ireland, which I remember fondly, and it marks a significant centenary across these islands.
“We share ties of family, friendship and affection – the foundation of our partnership that remains as important today as ten years ago.”
