Duchess Catherine and Prince William might be slowly returning to their in-person work in the UK, but they’e no less connected to their fellow Commonwealth countries.
In a brand-new video shared on Kensington Royal for Canada Day, the pair took part in a special video call with front line workers in British Columbia.
In the clip, which has been viewed more than 590,000 times, the Duke and Duchess are seen in the comfort of their country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk as they speak to the hospital staff – and there’s a few key things that stand out.
In the caption, Kensington Royal shared: “On #CanadaDay we say thank you to frontline workers across the country for your amazing work protecting and supporting your communities.”
The Palace statement continued: “The Duke and Duchess spoke with staff at @FraserHealth’s Surrey Memorial Hospital in British Columbia to hear about their experiences working to combat the Covid-19 outbreak, and the unique challenges of providing care throughout the outbreak, including the impact on staff, patients and their families.”
In the video, Catherine and William speak to workers about their experience amidst the pandemic. At one point they learn about how some families have been unable to support their sick relatives.
Kate told them it was “hugely heartbreaking to hear.”
“You guys see that and feel that on a daily basis. How do you manage yourselves? Are you all okay?” She prompted.
“It’s an amazing role that you’re playing and a hugely tough one as well. We’re in huge admiration of everything you’re doing.”
There was another element to the clip we couldn’t look past – Kate’s chic tweed outfit.
Indeed the short-sleeve style, which was woven with red and white fabric looked perfect on the mum-of-three – an uncanny colour choice when considering Canada’s red and white flag… coincidence?
We’d tend to think not!
Another thing about the sweet clip was the way the Duchess and Duke interacted.
At the beginning of the clip, Kate gives William a knowing glance as he begins speaking to the workers.
As the footage continues, it’s very clear to see how seamlessly the pair have adapted to working from home throughout lockdown – their dynamic and ease in which they speak both together and to the workers is flawless.
Fans were also thrilled to see the video, with a number of them taking to the comments section.
“Love this! Thank you Kate and William..And love and admiration for All the frontline workers,” one wrote.
Another enthused: “Don’t you just love the work William and Catherine do. They’ll make an amazing King and Queen.”
We can’t help but agree – and look forward to the next video call!
