Duchess Catherine has officially returned back to work after a relaxing summer, and she’s making her comeback in true style.
Barely a week after she dropped her daughter Princess Charlotte at her first day of school in a stunning floral Michael Kors dress, the mum-of-three has managed to outdo herself once again, stepping out on Tuesday, September 10 in a floral Emilia Wickstead frock – and arriving in a tractor no less!
Tuesday’s engagement was particularly special for the royal, who is officially opening the ‘Back to Nature’ garden at the RHS Garden Wisley, which was inspired by the design she worked on for months ahead of the Chelsea Flower Show earlier this year.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s ‘Back to Nature’ garden has been redesigned twice since the Chelsea Flower Show back in April, proving her endless passion and dedication to the project.
Featuring a tree house and a swing, Kate’s original design went down a treat with members of the royal family who came to see it at the popular Flower Show.
This included her young children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, all of whom were pictured having a lot of fun in their mum’s outdoor creation.
The garden itself was created with the aim to highlight the importance of spending time outdoors, which Kate believes plays a pivotal role in a child’s future health and happiness.
Kate was her usual animated self at the sunny garden event on Tuesday, laughing and dancing with children present. See some of the sweet moments in the video’s below!
On Tuesday, the Duchess opened a new garden design at RHS Garden Wisley, which was inspired by her own work.
The new garden features elements from her previous creations, including the hollow log and a wildflower meadow. In addition, this third edition includes two connected tree houses and slides to encourage families and friends to have fun together in a natural environment.
The new garden was created in collaboration with landscape architects Davies White with input from the RHS.
It will remain a permanent fixture at Wisley, and you can bet we’ll be paying it a visit should we ever be in the area!
As part of the grand opening, the Duchess also attended the ‘Back to Nature’ festival at Wisley, which celebrates the power of communities in enriching our wellbeing.
Kate herself has had a hand in the guest-list of the festival, inviting a number of people and charity organisations who she has met during her eight years of royal duties.
A statement from Kensington Palace explained the Duchess’ thought process: “The Duchess has taken the opportunity to invite many of them to the ‘Back to Nature’ Festival to celebrate their contribution to society.”
The statement continued: “[The Duchess invited them] to further highlight the importance of those involved in the Early Years sector coming together to support a fundamental change in how society approaches childhood development.”
In July, Kate visited the Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival, where her Chelsea Flower Show ‘Back to Nature’ garden had again been redesigned and showcased.
In a special reveal, it turns out that Kate’s eldest son Prince George had played a key role in its design.
Speaking to Jake Catling, director of the Landscaping Consultants, the royal revealed that George had requested a special path in the outside space.
He said: “We made the stepping stones because Prince George wanted them. The kids loved jumping across it and it was down to Kate we got that in.”
It was also revealed that Princess Charlotte had helped her find the pine cones that had been hidden around the garden as part of the treasure hunt – too cute!
There’s no denying Kate’s commitment and passion when it comes to gardening, and these three garden installations are case in point.
We’ve got our fingers crossed that we’ll soon see more gardening prowess from the talented royal!
