Duchess Catherine has made a beautiful promise to the family of a young boy who was cared for by her patronage East Anglia Children’s Hospices.
In a beautiful new clip posted on social media, the Duchess spoke to people involved with the hospice alongside Duchess Camilla via video calls.
Sharing a special moment with one family in particular, the royal mum-of-three pledged her own tribute for their late son.
In the new video, the Duchess is seen in her family home speaking to Stuart and Carla Delf with their 13-year-old son Stuie.
Stuie ran a sponsored 5K every day last month in memory of his brother, Fraser, who sadly died in January aged nine.
Speaking about the Hospice that looked after Fraser, Kate said: “Children’s hospices go that extra mile actually and support families like yourselves, I think it’s extraordinary.”
Fraser’s mother, Carla said: “The care was amazing, not just towards Fraser, making sure he was comfortable, but our wellbeing was met.”
Fraser’s father later revealed that Kate had pledged to plant a sunflower in memory of Fraser, confirming it would be planted “at one of the hospices”.
The beautiful yellow flower is a symbol of the Hospice, making Kate’s pledge all the more special.
Camilla was also taken with the family, with the Duchess telling 13-year-old Stuie “You must be very fit,” after learning of his run.
Both Kate and Camilla also spoke with Children’s Hospice South West, of which Camilla is also a patron.
The Duchesses spoke with staff there about how the pandemic has forced children’s hospices to adapt to an “agile” environment.
Many families usually involved with the hospice are having to shield at home, with the understanding they will do so for a while to come.
In the new clip, Kate was looking radiant as ever in a beautiful bright green outfit.
She wore her hair out and straight – a slight variation from her signature loose curls look.
Camilla meanwhile looked smart in a jacket and shirt combo, accessorised with a simple brooch on her lapel.
The video has come in line with National Children’s Hospice Week, and will no doubt be the first of many small engagements shared by the royals as they shine a light on the work they do.
Stay tuned, we’re sure there’s more to come from these two inspiring royal women, and their patronages.
