The Duchess of Cambridge has hinted that the pitter patter of little princess feet may soon be heard in the palace.
While visiting the seaport of Grimsby, Kate may have spilled the beans about the sex of the royal baby.
After being handed a white teddy bear by a local well-wisher, the expectant royal reportedly said, “Thank you, I’ll take that for my d…” before cutting herself off.
Unless she was referring to her dog, Lupo, Kate’s slip of the tongue could indicate she and Prince William are expecting a daughter.
When pushed to reveal if that was indeed the d-word she stopped herself from saying, Kate replied “we’re not telling”.
Never before has the sex of a royal baby been announced before his or her arrival, so Kate’s slip of the tongue is unlikely to be confirmed any time soon.
If the royal baby, due in July, is a girl, she will be called ‘Princess’ in line with new laws supported by the Queen that allow any royal baby, no matter its gender, to become heir to the throne.
Whether it’s Her Royal Highness or His, Kate and William’s child has been moving and kicking a great deal.
The Duchess reportedly told a well-wisher, one of more than 2000 who eagerly greeted her on her most recent public appearance, that the baby had been kicking “very much”.
