While walking the red carpet at the 2017 Princess Grace Awards gala kick off event in Los Angeles on Tuesday, the mother-daughter duo were lucky enough to meet Princess Charlene of Monaco.

Maxwell, who turned five in May, presented the royal with a posy made of white flowers and crisp green foliage before posing for photos ahead of the swanky event.

Jessica, 37, shared the special moment on Instagram just like any other proud parent.

She captioned a trio of photographs: “Maxwell’s dream to meet a real life princess coming true (and mom holding back her tears of pride!) #MAXIDREW @princessgraceUS @hshprincesscharlene”

Maxwell wore a red dress with a black collar for the rendez-vous, which coordinated with her mum’s black dress and bright red heels.

Adorably, Max looked a little nervous during the meeting.

Charlene, who has two young children of her own, welcomed the youngster warmly.

The five-year-old presented the much-loved royal with a pretty bouquet.

Jessica looked ever the proud mum at the special event!

The singer-songwriter recently came under fire after posting a series of snaps of her little daughter to social media. The pictures showed the yougster riding a scooter in a two-piece swimsuit.

Captioned “Safety first”, the images sparked online debate, with followers taking aim at everything from her poses, to her choice of outfit.

“These pictures should be kept private and NOT POSTED to social media. Parents should never post pictures of their children, especially girls, in swimming attire or underwear,” wrote one follower with another adding: “Sorry, but she is too young to be posing like that.”

One of the pictures that received criticism.

“Would never let my young daughter act like that, but I guess her mother acts the same way so not her fault,” penned another disgruntled fan. “This pic isn’t for public consumption… Why give perverts sick ideas about your precious child?”

Others, however, came to the defence of the Blonde Ambition star, arguing that her daughter appears the picture of a normal kid, having fun and playing with her mother.

“To everyone warning Jessica Simpson that people will sexualise her daughter because of this picture, that’s exactly what you’re doing,” called out one commenter.

“She’s a child. See this for what it is. If you’re worried for her safety then teach your kids about consent and discuss how outfits and presentation don’t imply consent to engage in sexual behaviour with anyone.”

“Go judge somewhere else. She is gorgeous and no need for mummy shaming,” added a like-minded fan.

Jessica shares Maxwell and four-year-old son Ace Knute Johnson with husband Eric Johnson.
