Taking part in a walkabout, Her Majesty was greeted by thousands of adoring fans, who had lined the streets of Windsor to wish her a very happy 90th birthday.
Our very own Erin Holohan was lucky enough to be at Windsor for the landmark occasion.
Describing it as an electric day, she waited alongside fellow eager fans, in the hopes to wish the Queen a happy ninetieth.
Speaking to some of the well-wishers, Erin was told some had lined up outside Windsor Castle from as early as three or four in the morning on Thursday, with some sleeping out overnight, just in hopes to catch a glimpse of Her Majesty on the special day.
Donning what can only be described as a majestic lime green statement-making outfit, the 90-year-old wore a Angela Kelly design completed with her favourite pin — the star diamond brooch, gifted to her in 1981.
Elizabeth was driven to the top of Castle Hill where she stepped out of her car to be greeted by loud cheers from the crowd.
Joined by her husband-of-68-years, Prince Phillip, Her Majesty waved at her biggest fans before going on a short walk and then launching a new walkway in her honour.
Of course, no birthday would be complete without cake.
Joined by fellow 90 year olds from around the country, the royal cut her very own birthday cake.
Later that day the royal birthday girl attended a beacon lighting ceremony.
Joining them was the couple’s eldest Prince Charles and his wife Duchess Camilla.
Following the short engagement, the Queen headed home to Windsor Castle, where she was believed to be having a private dinner with 71 guests, including 30 members of the royal family,
No doubt she’ll be treated to some more cake!
