Home and Away alum Tammin Sursok has shared details of a very unfortunate family getaway that ended in her packing up and fleeing her Airbnb in the dead of night.
Tammin, her husband Sean McEwen and their two daughters travelled 17 hours from Queensland down to Melbourne for a weekend break, only to realise their booked accommodation was a “complete disaster”.
“It is nine o’clock at night,” the 38-year-old told her Instagram followers while standing outside in the dark.
“I’m scared, I don’t like it. It’s haunted,” her eight-year-old daughter Phoenix said in the background.
The Aquamarine star then documented her disappointing experience and shared photos of the dilapidated house riddled with ripped carpets, smashed glass, mysterious stains and scratched walls.
“This has actually never happened to me. Airbnb has been amazing so far, so we will see what we do. But not ideal,” she continued.
The family fled the Airbnb and checked in at a nearby hotel, where she kept her followers up to date on their ill-fated holiday.
“What a s–t show. Airbnb refunded everything, which they should’ve, thank goodness,” she said from her hotel room bed.
“I’ve never actually had that experience. I’ve never had to be refunded for a place I’ve stayed because normally everything’s great. But it was a disaster. When you walked in it stunk like black mould.”
Tammin often shares snippets of her personal life on Instagram, and recently opened up on the platform about the bullying she suffered as a child.
“When I was 13 years old I was 200 pounds (90kg), I got bullied a lot and boys were horrible to me, they would throw rocks at my head and kids would laugh behind my back,” she said, sharing throwback photos of herself.
“All I wanted was to be an actress and musician and it was the only time I felt happy. A guy I had a crush on told me I’d never amount to anything. I told him to watch this space.”
Tammin said she was picked on for most of her adolescence, but she chose to persevere and not let “people’s words, bathed in hate” break her.
“If you are in this situation, I promise you that you are worthy, you are enough and I want you to GET UP. Your dreams can come true, but it’s up to you. I see you. I got you.”
Tammin’s career has continued to skyrocket since leaving her four-year gig in Summer Bay. She has gone on to star in Pretty Little Liars and Hannah Montana.
