They’re one of the most adored real-life couples to come from Home And Away, falling in love on set and going on to tie the knot in 2019.
And as she departs the show, actress Sarah Roberts has revealed the hilarious story behind her first meeting with her now-husband James Stewart.

In a new video shared on the official Home And Away Instagram account farewelling Sarah’s character Willow, the 36-year-old confessed her first encounter with James was in fact during a chemistry test as part of her audition for the role.
“I remember in my final audition for Willow, I had a chemistry test opposite Jimmy – who’s now my husband,” Sarah explained.
“Geoffrey the director came out and said: ‘Look I’m not going to bring you into the room first. I just want you to walk straight into the audition room and go straight into the scene,” she recalled.
“I was like, ‘You know what? This is my third audition for Home And Away, I’m just gonna go for it.'”
What happened next is the stuff of legends – and it was all caught on camera!
“Jimmy was tied up on the chair and I just strutted in, straddled him and started the scene. I guess the rest is history,” she remembered of their fateful first encounter.
While Sarah’s time on the soapie has come to an end, the 36-year-old says she’ll always be grateful to the show for it bringing her husband and lifelong friendships.
“You know, before we fell in love, I just enjoyed working with Jimmy. I learnt a lot from him. He allowed me to grow as an actor and he was a great support for me.”
The actress and DJ recently told TV WEEK that leaving H&A “has come at a good time.”
“I can now reflect on myself within and outside of work. It’ll be nice to work on myself for a bit,” she said.
“I need to step back, relax and breathe. I want to meditate, have family time, work out and enjoy life.”
But that’s not to say we won’t see her on our screens again soon! With huge overseas productions now moving to Australia to film, Sarah is excited by what the future may hold and is auditioning for her next big role.
“I would love play a Disney princess in a film, I actually played Princess Jasmine and Pocahontas at Disneyland in Japan,” she told Now To Love earlier in the month.
She’s also keen to expand her work as a DJ.
“I’ve been DJing for about 10 years, but I put it on the backburner for a while. Now that I’ve got more free time I’d love to focus more on my music.”
