Aussie actress and beloved Home And Away star, Sam Frost, has paved quite the career for herself.
When we see the 31-year-old on our screens today we’re more likely to think of her alter-ego in Summer Bay than her humble reality tv beginnings on Blake Garvey’s season of The Bachelor in 2014.
It’s a testament to the hard work and six-year-long journey Sam’s made to create a successful career for herself.
And now, she’s receiving some well-earned recognition being nominated for an AACTA Audience Choice Award for Favourite TV Contestant of the Decade.
Taking to Instagram Sam said she was “very honoured” to be nominated before deciding to take “a little trip down memory lane”.
“I started this weird and wonderful journey in 2014 as a verrrry naïve 24 year old on the Bach. Took a huge hit mentally & emotionally… hid away for a year, and came back as the first Aussie Bachelorette. Which I turned down at least 20 times, before I felt like the universe gave me a massive shove in unexplainable ways to say yes.”
She added: “Then Radio. Hells Kitchen. Home & Away. Full Monty.”
“I’m incredibly grateful for everyone who has been on the ride with me, supporting me & encouraging me through my career & personal highs and lows. With all my heart, thank you.. I couldn’t have done it without you 🙏🏻✨”
Shortly after Channel Seven announced the former star of The Bachelorette Australia would be joining the cast, Sam was hit with a tsunami of criticism. Her social media was inundated with trolls labelling her a “publicity stunt” for the show.
“I can understand why people would say, ‘Hang on, isn’t that the chick from The Bachelorette, and now she’s going to be in Home And Away?'” she told TV WEEK in 2018. “But people don’t see the months of gruelling hard work I did in the lead-up to it.”
It turns out, this wasn’t the first time Sam had auditioned for the show.
“I didn’t get the role I originally auditioned for and had to go through the process again.”
Sam’s well and truly come into her own this year, recently revealing she’s happy as ever being “31, single and fabulous”.
“I feel like there has been a shift in me this year. I’m not sure whether it’s because I am single again, or if it’s because I’m in my 30’s and I am tired of having to apologise for who I am. Maybe it’s because 2020 has been a real jerk of a year? I don’t know why, all I know.. I have changed,” she shared in a heartfelt post.
“Here I am, 31 single and fabulous. That’s how I describe myself these days, mostly for a laugh with friends, but I do actually feel good about myself and where I am in life. I always thought ‘I want to find the love of my life by the time I am 24’ Hilarious, I know.”
