They say having a work wife can get you through the inevitable ups and downs of working life and office politics.
And while their “office” may be the set of the nation’s most beloved soapie, Home And Away stars and best friends Lynne McGranger and Ada Nicodemou have had each other’s back for over 20 years.
The H&A icons, who play Leah Patterson and Irene Roberts respectively, are often spotted spending time with each other both on and off set.
In fact, in 2017 the pair even jetted to Italy for a girls’ trip to celebrate Ada’s 40th birthday.
“We’re best mates. And can I say I am so proud of her, I guess everyone has fallen in love with her because they’ve seen what I see everyday. She’s a beautiful person and I’m really proud of her,” Ada has proudly explained of her bestie Lynne.
And the feeling is clearly mutual!
Last year in the midst of the coronavirus lockdown when the show went on an unprecedented eight-week hiatus during the nation-wide COVID-19 lockdown, Lynne admitted it was Ada she missed the most out of the cast.
“We catch up on House Party and FaceTime and all of those sorts of things. I have to say, when we do go back, I am so looking forward to catching up with all of my Home And Away buddies – but especially Ada. I have missed her,” Lynne confessed at the time.
The pair even started their own book club together in isolation.
“A lot of people are getting inspired to read through watching us do it and talk about, which is lovely,” Ada previously told Now To Love.
Ada and Lynne have been friends ever since Ada joined the Home And Away cast in 2000 as Leah Patterson.
“We instantly connected,” Ada previously told New Idea, “And we know each other really, really well. She’s a true friend and true friends do not come around that often.
“Lynne is such a young soul and we don’t take ourselves too seriously. We can also both be very honest with each other, and we know all of each other’s idiosyncrasies.”
Lynne added: “I’m basically Ada’s mum’s age, but I’ve never thought of myself like that – I think she’s more of a mum to me than I am to her!
“Ada’s just very smart, wise, and she’s a great person to go to for advice on something. She’s an absolute rock and I’ve been able to be a sounding board for her, too.”

With a friendship spanning over 20 years, these mates are the real deal.
Every year, the pair make sure they take each other out for a celebratory birthday dinner.

“Lynne and I put suggestions forward of books we’ve wanted to read then we poll it on Instagram,” Ada revealed of how it works.
