The Summer Bay family has grown!
Australian television’s most supportive team is celebrating the arrival of their newest cast member, Nicholas Cartwright.
The actor is playing new Senior Constable Cash Newman on Home and Away, and he’s already been dubbed the “hot cop” for all the reasons one may expect.
Nicholas has been welcomed with open arms by his new castmates, and a string of the show’s biggest stars and crew shared messages of support for the 33-year-old, who isn’t just new to the soap but also acting, as this is his first role since finishing acting school.
The first Home and Away actor to ring in Nicholas’ arrival was Ethan Browne, who plays Tane Parata on the show.
Ethan’s message of support was a sweet ode to the newbie actor, who he already knew after they became good pals at the prestigious drama school NIDA.
“Thought I had rid myself of this guy after putting up with him for three years at drama school…now I gotta do more time with him at work ffs 😩 😂 🤙🏽…” Ethan joked in the caption, which was accompanied with some candid photos and videos of them joking about.
“When I heard there was a search for a new cop in the bay, I instantly thought of this man. Perfect for the role, and he bloody well got it! One of the hardest working people I’ve met and so deserving! Super proud of you brother,” he signed off the tribute.

The jovial and heartwarming caption was matched by Nicholas, whose reply showed fans just how tight their real-life bond is.
“I knew you’d never leave me bro xoxo,” Nicholas joked in the comments section.
Next up was the ever lovely Sam Frost, who shared a sweet message to ring in Nicholas’ debut on the show.
“Tonight we welcome this legend @_nicholascartwright to Summer Bay Nic is honestly such a breath of fresh air,” Sam, who plays Jasmine on the show, began.
“He’s such a selfless and generous actor, and he has an epic sense of humour.”
“We only communicate via memes, which is how it should be. We adore you,” she concluded.
The Home and Away crew are also smitten with the new actor with the head of hair and makeup, Laura Vazquez, posting a gushing message on her Instagram to Nicholas.
“Didn’t know the new James Bond was joining @homeandaway tonight! Oh silly me it’s the new cop, Cash Newman AKA Cash Money @_nicholascartwright,” Laura wrote.
Before joining the show, the actor served in the Australian Army as a rifleman for six years and had been deployed to East Timor and Afghanistan before turning to acting.
Nicholas felt that after leaving the army, he had to shake things up, and he told Perth Now that he needed to fill the void the defence force left.
“You can kind of feel a little lost when you get out of the defence force, and no one wants to do a normal job.”
“So I thought, what’s the craziest thing I can do and decided to go to NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art),” Nicolas told the publication.
