She may have regained consciousness, but something still isn’t quite right with Marilyn this week. Her personality has changed – and not for the better, either.
After ordering John (Shane Withington) and Irene (Lynne McGranger) from her hospital room, Marilyn (Emily Symons) turns on doctor Logan (Harley Bonner) to demand an explanation as to why he would allow her ex-husband anywhere near her.
Baffled by her reaction, Logan asks Alf (Ray Meagher) how she and John had been getting on. His answer – that he thought the pair were in a good place – leaves him even more puzzled.
As fans recall, Marilyn collapsed on her way home from the Diner after inhaling toxic fumes during the chemical attack at Salt.
“The organophosphate affects her in unexpected ways,” Harley, 30, tells TV WEEK. “It alters her psychology, which is a very real side effect.”
A day later, things come to a head when Marilyn checks herself out of hospital and goes to Salt with Ziggy (Sophie Dillman) and Dean (Patrick O’Connor) for breakfast – and cocktails!
It’s an alarm bell to her friends, but when the dedicated vegetarian then orders a beef burger, they know there’s something seriously amiss with their friend.
“I think that’s one of the main signs for Logan that there’s more to her issue than meets the eye,” Harley says.
And if Leah (Ada Nicodemou) and Irene think the sight of Marilyn eating meat is unusual, it’s nothing compared to how they feel when she spots a roster change that has Chloe (Sam Barrett) taking her place at the Diner and flies into a rage a second time.
Can Logan help her find her way back to who she was, or is this how Marilyn will be forever?
“Logan hopes he can treat everyone,” Harley explains. “But once he understands the issue, he knows this is above his pay grade.”
