Every year, the drama, romances and bombshells get turned up a notch on Home and Away, and from the teasers we’ve been given so far, the 2022 season will not disappoint.
Fans have been treated to a nail-biting trailer, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from our Summer Bay favourites in the new year.
It seems things will pick up exactly where they left off in November’s finale, which saw Ryder get buried alive in a coffin, Felicity and Tane pack up and leave for a road trip, Ari propose to Mia, and Mia, Chloe and Matthew get into a heated argument.
From the trailer, we can see that Tane and Felicity’s budding romance continues to heat up, with the pair enjoying a romantic getaway.
While camping, Felicity dances with her headphones in while a visibly besotted Tane watches on, before the former bartender realises he’s standing right next to her.
“So this is how you dance when you think no one’s watching?” Tane asked her with a flirty smile, prompting Felicity to cheekily giggle.
The pair later shares a tender moment, with Tane telling Felicity: “I want you with me,” prompting her to respond: “Well that’s where I’ll be.” Aww!
Ethan Browne, who plays Tane, told TV WEEK that viewers can expect to see his character’s “caring and nurturing side” next year.
“He joins Flick on a small getaway adventure to help her through the trauma surrounding her father’s passing, and during their time they solidify their bond and become closer as a couple,” he revealed to us, adding that the pair are a match made in heaven.
“He keeps her calm and chill and she brings a lot of high energy to his life, so the polarity between the two works nicely.”
And it seems love is truly in the air in Summer Bay, with chemistry also through the roof between Mackenzie and Logan.
The pair were seen canoodling on the beach, with Logan exclaiming: “You can’t have too much of a good thing!” before passionately kissing Mackenzie.
But it’s not all smooth sailing for our other Summer Bay favourites. On the other side of town, Ryder’s situation is becoming even more dire. He is still trapped inside a coffin and can be seen becoming increasingly panicked.
In the finale, Ryder and Theo headed deep into the wilderness together to embark on their “most epic challenge yet”, which saw Ryder being sealed into a coffin and buried underground.
But when Theo fell over and was knocked unconscious, Ryder became trapped deep beneath the earth, with no sign of help. In the trailer, he frantically taps on the coffin and struggles to breathe.
Will he survive this horrible prank gone wrong?
Meanwhile, “the murder that no-one saw coming” saga keeps unravelling. Chloe continues to grapple with killing her father Matthew just weeks after he came to the Bay to meet her.
“I murdered someone, and I have to live with that for the rest of my life,” Chloe tells her mother Mia in the sneak peek.
The second trailer shows Chloe saying that her life “is the result of something so terrible,” before she and Mia put Matthew’s body in the trunk of her car.
Chloe is then confronted by Bella, who boldly asks: “It was you, wasn’t it?” prompting Chloe to beg her to keep the murder a secret.
“The only way you can pull this off is if you act normal. That’s all it takes is one stupid mistake,” Bella tells her.
Things also aren’t looking too good for Mia, who’s fresh off a marriage proposal from Ari, who can be seen speeding away from a policeman on the highway, before a car chase ensues.
The new promo, released today, shows several police vehicles intercept Mia before she’s handcuffed and led away by officers while a forensic team searches the boot of her car.
A tearful Mia is then seen desperately begging Ari to protect her, to which he responds: “I’ve got you.”
Home and Away will return to Channel Seven in early 2022.
