Home and Away star Ethan Browne, who landed his big break last year when was cast as Tane Parata, has rung in his 30th birthday.
Hordes of fans and fellow Summer Bay stars helped Ethan celebrate his birthday by sending him sweet, and hilarious, well wishes.
Matt Evans, who plays Ada Nicodemou’s on-screen nephew Theo Poulos, shared a video of Ethan playing guitar.
“Happy birthday to the big he-man. Definition of the whole package,” Matt playfully captioned the post.
Summer Bay’s makeup artist Hilary Middlebrook shared a sweet tribute by sharing a hilarious on-set video showing the father-of-one attempting to balance on a collapsible chair.
Celebrity hair stylist Laura Vazquez, who also works on the Home and Away set, uploaded a sweet snap of herself next to Ethan, captioned “Happy birthday Goku, homeboy, ooosh.”
Ethan’s sister Teresa, who lives in his native New Zealand, wished her brother a happy 30th, writing: “Happy birthday to the bro. Hope you have a mean day. Love and miss you xx.”
Ethan, who landed the role of Tane mid-last year, grew up in a small town on the east coast of New Zealand, and honed his craft alongside his brother and four sisters.
At the time, he was simply playing in the backyard, but it became a first step towards acting professionally.
“My siblings and I used to make little short films, whether it was something we saw on TV or pretend fight scenes, and I’d always loved it,” he told TVWEEK.
Ethan revealed that life got in the way of his childhood dreams and he instead chose to embark on a different path after finishing high school. He studied civil engineering and made the move to Brisbane.
But his passion for acting hadn’t gone away, so he decided to chase the “unattainable dream”.
“I didn’t pursue acting for a long time, but it stuck in my head. I needed to just take a chance and do it. I decided to take some acting classes which led me to NIDA.”
His change of course not only brought him to Sydney’s prestigious acting school NIDA, but to the Channel Seven studios where he auditioned for the role of Tane. He soon got the job and graduated shortly after.
When asked how similar he is to his character, Ethan revealed he shares many similarities with Tane.
“I’m quite cheeky like him, but more responsible. We’re both family-orientated guys, though, and enjoy the company of our siblings,” he said.
Fans may have been surprised to the learn the New Zealand native has a 13-year-old daughter named Aaylah.
Ethan was just 16 years old when he welcomed Aaylah, which he described as a “dramatic turning point” in his life.
