Stone the flaminโ€™ crows, Home And Away won a Logie! Proving it continues to get better with age, the long-running drama series, which first aired in 1988, took home the TV WEEK Logie Award for Most Popular Drama, making it the showโ€™s 68th statuette.

The recognition wasnโ€™t lost on the cast, who celebrated their win through happy tears.

Ray Meagher, 77, who was also nominated for Most Popular Actor as well as the coveted Gold Logie, says heโ€™s โ€œhumbledโ€ by the support โ€“ not just for himself, but all the cast and crew.

Shortly after Home And Awayโ€˜s win, the veteran actor fought back tears as he soaked up the accolade.

โ€œIt means a hell of a lot and itโ€™s important to our industry,โ€ Ray, who plays stalwart Alf Stewart, says.

Like many in the arts, Home And Away has had to battle through the pandemic, which brought shutdowns and filming restrictions. It makes the Logie win this year particularly special.

โ€œItโ€™s been very hard to keep the show goingโ€ฆ life as we know it at Home And Away has been quite difficult,โ€ Emily Symons, 52, who plays Marilyn Chambers, says.

Lynne McGranger, 69, who has played Irene Roberts since 1993, adds, โ€œWe all feel validated that weโ€™ve been around for 30 years and that people are still loving it.

โ€œPeople might stop watching, but others start and others come back to watching. It never gets old.โ€

Ada Nicodemou, who plays Leah Patterson-Baker, had tipped success on the red carpet before the event.
