With Felicity’s wedding just around the corner, her brother Cash has some big ideas to make it a day to remember. From doing up their late dad’s beat-up old ute to encouraging Flick to reconnect with their foster dad Gary, he’s got a lot going on.
But this week in Home And Away, Felicity (Jacqui Purvis) isn’t that appreciative of Cash’s (Nicholas Cartwright) thoughtful efforts when she discovers Gary (Peter Phelps) is in town. While Cash is overjoyed to see him, Flick feels differently.
“They have a rocky history,” Jacqui tells TV WEEK. “She feels ambushed by him and Cash. She’d hoped Cash would support her decision to not see him, but instead, he forces her to face him. This drives a wedge between her and Cash.”
Deep down, Flick’s feelings about Gary don’t stem only from the painful loss of her father – she feels guilty for the way she treated him as a teenager.
“Gary came into her life after her dad died, which was confronting for her,” Jacqui explains. “Naturally, she rebelled and treated Gary badly. Now, she’s guilt- ridden and doesn’t want to see him.”
Hoping that the pair might make peace, Cash encourages his sister to put the past behind them. But when Flick and Gary come face-to-face, she makes it clear she’s not interested in reconciling.
Thankfully, an understanding Gary can see through her facade, pulling her into a warm embrace. “Flick realises she’ll never be able to move past this pain if she doesn’t confront it,” Jacqui explains.
Meanwhile, Cash gets to work with garage owner Justin (James Stewart) on restoring his dad’s ute for the big day. As he’s tinkering away, he suddenly hears his dad’s favourite song playing over the radio. Then, moments later, he finds his mum’s long-lost necklace hidden in the vehicle.
“The necklace has been missing for so many years,” Nicholas says. “And right when Cash is trying to make sure a part of their father is at Flick’s wedding, a piece of their mum turns up too.” Proud of his sister for mending things with Gary, he gives her their mother’s long-lost necklace to wear on her wedding day for good luck.
Things are starting to look up for the nervous bride! Can she keep up this positive streak all the way to the altar?
