No sooner had Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan welcomed their baby this week than their royal family counterparts were flocking to congratulate them.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced the safe arrival of their little girl, beautifully named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, with a beautiful photo – and very quickly, she captured the attention of her wider family (and everyone else across the globe, for that matter).
Sharing a beautiful note of congratulations to his brother and sister-in-law was Prince William and wife Duchess Catherine.
The pair shared a picture to their own Instagram account along with the caption: “We are all delighted by the happy news of the arrival of baby Lili.”
They concluded: “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie.”
In another sweet tribute post, the Queen’s official Instagram account also shared the love for the new parents, writing: “Congratulations to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lilibet Diana!
“The Queen, The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted with the news.”
The post ended: “Lilibet is Her Majesty’s 11th great-grandchild.”
Proud new granddad Prince Charles was also in on the congratulatory band-wagon.
He shared his own message of excitement for the newborn and her parents via the official Clarence House Instagram account: “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of baby Lilibet Diana 🎊
“Wishing them all well at this time.”
Meanwhile Prince Harry’s cousin Princess Eugenie took to her Instagram Stories to congratulate her loved ones on their new arrival, posting the stunning black-and-white photo captured by Misan Harriman the couple used when they announced their pregnancy earlier in the year.
“Congratulations dear cousins.. we couldn’t be happier for you all,” Eugenie penned alongside a slew of red love-heart emojis.
Duchess Meghan welcomed her baby girl this week with an official announcement released via the Sussexes’ official foundation, Archewell.
Like their royal relatives, the world was quick to react with thousands of comments, re-posts and excitable chatter from fans and followers.
Understandably, it made front page news across a number of British publications, a welcome reprieve from some of the other, less-joyful headlines we’ve experienced over the past year.
It also comes at high time for the royals, who lost a cherished member of their family in April – Prince Philip. The 99-year-old never got to meet his 11th great-grandchild.
However, we’re sure that as soon as restrictions allow for it, The Queen will be overjoyed to meet Harry and Meghan’s newborn.
A big congratulations to the Sussexes from us, as well!
