The Duchess of Cambridge spent time tracing her family history on Wednesday while visiting the spy school where her grandmother, Valerie Middleton, worked during World War II.
While touring the restored code-breaking facility in Bletchley Park, Catherine, 32, learned about her ancestors and listened in on the enemy while deciphering a replica Morse code message from back in the day.
She even had the privilege of meeting Lady Marion Body, a former colleague of her granny Valerie and Valerie’s twin sister, Mary before speaking with other Bletchley veterans.
“The Duchess’ grandmother worked on the same desk as me,” the 90-year-old said.
“I had been a secretarial college with those two girls,so I knew them very well. They were fun.
“When you have such a boring job, you had to get on well. We knew exactly what we were doing—it was part of the war effort.”
To mark Catherine’s solo visit, Clarence House later tweeted a tribute photo of a gorgeous Valerie, who died in 2006 at the age of 82.
And we couldn’t help but notice she looks just like her famous granddaughter.
